Overview

Registered in 2011 by an unknown breeder, 'Lime Ripple' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its blue-green leaves with heavy, rippled to serrated gold margins. The foliage is ovate with cordate bases, lightly corrugated and wavy, with a dull upper surface and glaucous bloom beneath. The upright, vase-shaped habit and lime green scapes are notable features.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its upright form makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens. The gold-edged blue-green leaves pair well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials with contrasting foliage colors.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While hostas are generally susceptible to slug and deer damage, the heavy leaf texture may offer some resistance to slugs.
