Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Lime Meringue' is a miniature sport of *Hosta* 'Lemon Lime' distinguished by its medium green leaves edged with pure white margins. The lance-shaped foliage measures 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) long and 1.2 inches (3.0 cm) wide, with slightly rippled white margins 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) wide, a lightly wavy surface, and a moderately flat profile. The leaf tops are slightly shiny, while the undersides are very shiny.
In the Garden
With a mature clump diameter of 3.1 inches (7.9 cm) and height of 4 inches (10.2 cm), 'Lime Meringue' is well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp and the green center does not fade. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, and it pairs well with other miniature hostas or small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
