Overview
Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Lily Blue Eyes' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Salute'* and *H. 'Azure Snow'*. It is visually distinguished by its intensely blue-green, broadly ovate leaves with serrated margins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, which gives the foliage a matte, powder-blue appearance.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature spread of approximately 27 inches (68.6 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), with an upright growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border middlegrounds or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitoring and protective measures are recommended in areas where these pests are prevalent.
