Overview
Registered in 1980 by K. Anderson, this small hosta cultivar produces green leaves with light yellow margins. The leaf blades measure 5 inches (12.7 cm) in length and 3 inches (7.6 cm) in width, forming a compact mound.
In the Garden
Hosta 'Lemonade' reaches a mature spread of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and a height of 18 inches (45.7 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate control measures.
