Overview
Registered in 2007 from unknown parentage, *Hosta* 'Lemon Leaf' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, intensely yellow to greenish-yellow flat margins. The leaf blade is nearly round with a cordate base, deeply cupped, and notable for its intense corrugation, a glaucous bloom on the underside, and a faint white edge at the extreme margin.
In the Garden
This slow-growing hosta forms an upright to mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 35 inches (88.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins maintain their brightest coloration without scorching. Its bold, textured foliage pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other fine-textured shade perennials; the medium size suits border middles or woodland garden placements.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the leaves.
