Overview
Registered in 1986 by D. Reath, this small hosta forms a dense, rounded clump of intensely blue-green leaves. The foliage is nearly round, measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm) both in length and width, with margins that are a deeper, more saturated blue-green than the leaf center, creating a subtle two-tone effect.
In the Garden
Reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and spreading to 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, 'Lee Armiger' is best suited for the front of a border, rock garden, or as edging along a shaded path. It performs well in partial to full shade and pairs effectively with finer-textured shade plants such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or small-leaved *Tiarella*. Its compact size also makes it suitable for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and snails may damage the foliage, the thick, blue-green leaves are somewhat more resistant than thin-leaved cultivars; standard slug control measures are recommended in persistently damp conditions.
