Overview
Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Gold Cup' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Golden Waffles' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with deep yellow margins, a color pattern that provides strong contrast throughout the growing season.
In the Garden
'Hedi Lantis' reaches a mature size of approximately 15 inches (38 cm) in height and 15 inches (38 cm) in diameter, with leaves 8 inches (20 cm) long and 6 inches (15 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for gold-margined hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded rock gardens.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary, as the broad leaves are attractive to both pests.
