Overview
Registered in 2005 from unknown parentage, 'Lauren's Delight' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its nearly round, cupped leaves of medium blue-green with slightly rippled margins. The foliage is dull on both surfaces, and the leaf blade measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) long by 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide, with eight vein pairs and a cordate base.
In the Garden
'Lauren's Delight' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, where the blue coloration is most pronounced. The cupped leaves provide textural contrast when paired with finer-textured perennials such as ferns or bleeding hearts. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
