Overview

Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Lap Dance' is a miniature cultivar derived from *H.* 'Happiness' (pod parent) with an unknown pollen parent. It is distinguished by its very small, narrow, lance-shaped leaves of medium blue-green with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, combined with moderately wavy and twisted margins.

In the Garden

'Lap Dance' forms a compact, slow-growing mound 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade with well-drained soil, and its diminutive size pairs well with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or woodland groundcovers. The plant is also well suited for container cultivation, where its small stature and textured foliage can be appreciated at close range.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially in containers, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Lap Dance' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
