Overview

Registered in 2016 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Lambeau Leap' is a large, upright cultivar with blue-green leaves bearing gold margins that mature to greenish yellow centers edged in dark green. The broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves are notable for their heavy substance, slight rippling along the edges, and a glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

'Lambeau Leap' reaches 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain brightest, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its upright habit and substantial leaves make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
