Overview
Registered in 2005 by Mary Chastain, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Scamp' is a miniature cultivar derived from *H.* 'Lakeside Knickknack' and an unnamed seedling. It is distinguished by its small, mound-like habit and aqua soft blue-green leaves with creamy white, flat margins.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Lakeside Scamp' reaches a mature diameter of 9 inches (22.9 cm) and a height of 3 inches (7.6 cm), forming a compact mound suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture. Its miniature size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, and it pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. The plant exhibits a fast growth rate.
Care Notes
Provide regular water during dry periods, particularly in containers. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small leaf size may reduce susceptibility.
