Section classII-1

Overview

Registered in 2006 by Mary Chastain of Lakeside Acres, this large, fast-growing cultivar is visually distinctive for its nearly round, dull-surfaced leaves with light green margins and a cordate base. The leaf centre is not described in the registry, but the variegation pattern is consistent with the pod parent *H.* 'Lakeside San Kao'.

In the Garden

Mature plants form a mound 18 inches (45.7 cm) high and spread to 66 inches (167.6 cm) in diameter, making this a substantial specimen for the middle to back of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the light green margins remain clear. Suitable companions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other large hostas such as *H.* 'Sum and Substance'. Its fast growth rate and large size make it less suited to containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
