Overview
Registered in 2002 by an unknown breeder, 'Lakeside Round Table' is a giant hosta distinguished by its nearly round, blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on the undersides and medium green, flat margins. The leaves are dull on top, moderately flat, and lightly wavy, with 18 to 20 vein pairs, cordate bases, and dimensions of 15 inches (38.1 cm) long by 13 inches (33.0 cm) wide.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature spread of 55 inches (139.7 cm) in diameter and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), with an upright habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or in the middle to back of shaded borders. The large blue-green leaves provide strong contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or astilbes.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitoring and appropriate control measures are recommended.
