Overview
Registered in 1995, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Rhapsody' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white margins. The leaf blades are cordate at the base, measure 8 inches (20.3 cm) long by 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide, and bear 12 pairs of veins; the margins are smooth and approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a semi-upright clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-green hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its medium size makes it appropriate for mixed perennial plantings alongside ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
