Overview
Registered in 2000 by Mary Chastain, 'Lakeside Ragtime' is a miniature hosta forming compact mounds of narrow, medium green leaves with white margins. The cultivar is distinguished by its small stature, fast growth rate, and contrasting white leaf edges that measure approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide.
In the Garden
This miniature hosta reaches 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and spreads to 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter, forming a dense mound. It performs best in partial to full shade and is well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its small size makes it an excellent companion for other miniature hostas, small ferns, or woodland groundcovers, and it adapts readily to container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Lakeside Ragtime' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
