Overview
Registered in 2002 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Roy El', 'Lakeside Prime Time' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white margins. The leaf blade is nearly round, lightly cupped, and dull on the upper surface with a slightly shiny underside, bearing 11 to 13 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a dense, fast-growing mound reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers contrast well with the broad white margins. The green scapes rise 20 to 24 inches (50.8 to 61.0 cm) above the foliage. Suitable companions include ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
