Overview
Registered in 1996 as a stable sport of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Knickknack', this miniature cultivar is distinguished by its small, cordate leaves with pure white centers and dark green, flat margins. The leaf blade measures 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) long by 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, with five pairs of veins; the upper surface is slightly shiny while the underside is dull.
In the Garden
With a mature plant diameter of 7 inches (17.8 cm) and height of 5.5 inches (14.0 cm), 'Lakeside Paddywack' forms a compact, mound-like clump with a fast growth rate. It is well suited to partial to dappled shade, as typical for hostas, and performs effectively in rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera* cultivars, or other miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or repellents. The scape reaches 9 to 12 inches (22.9 to 30.5 cm) in height.
