Overview

Registered in 1991 by M. Chastain, this miniature hosta results from a cross between *Hosta venusta* and *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet'. It forms a compact, low mound of dull blue-green leaves with pronounced undulating margins, reaching only 3 inches (7.6 cm) in height and 12.5 inches (31.8 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Lakeside Neat Petite' is well-suited to shaded or partly shaded positions, where its small stature and dense habit make it an effective groundcover in rock gardens, troughs, or the front of woodland borders. Its miniature size and neat, mounded form also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera* cultivars, or other miniature hostas that share similar light and moisture requirements.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
