Overview
Registered in 1995 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Gold Point' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with deep gold, slightly rippled margins. The leaf blades are dull on both surfaces, measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 2.1 inches (5.3 cm) wide, and feature four vein pairs with a rounded base.
In the Garden
This hosta forms a semi-upright clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for the genus, and its compact size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Green-flowered scapes rise 15 to 20 inches (38.1 to 50.8 cm) above the foliage in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from deer and monitor for slug damage, particularly on the dull-surfaced leaves.
