Overview
Registered in 2001, 'Lakeside Full Tide' is a giant hosta cultivar bred from an unnamed seedling pollinated by *Hosta* 'Lakeside Ripples'. Its most distinctive feature is the combination of very shiny, dark green leaf margins with heavy rippling and a flat, corrugated surface, creating a pronounced textural contrast against the dull green leaf undersides.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a large, mound-like clump reaching 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 72 inches (182.9 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its glossy, heavily textured leaves can develop without scorching. The substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or for use in mixed shade borders, where its broad, cordate-based leaves provide strong visual weight.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
