Overview
Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Fruit Loops' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with white centers and dark green margins, a color pattern that is reversed from the more common green-center, white-margin hosta.
In the Garden
This miniature hosta reaches a mature size of approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate and slightly rhizomatous habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its small size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or other miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
