Overview
Registered in 2005, this small hosta cultivar was developed from a streaked form of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Cupcake' crossed with an unnamed seedling. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, blue-green leaves with broad, creamy white, flat margins and a compact, low mound habit.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter and 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height, 'Lakeside Circle O' forms a dense, fast-growing mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging. Its small size and tidy habit make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent. It is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
