Overview
Registered in 1994 by Mary Chastain, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Cha Cha' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Fascination'* and *H. montana*. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with creamy white margins, a slightly rippled edge, and a glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a semi-upright clump reaching approximately 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter. Its leaves are 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with cordate bases and 10 pairs of veins. The scapes, which are gold in color, rise 26 to 29 inches (66.0 to 73.7 cm) above the foliage. 'Lakeside Cha Cha' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
