Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease' registered in 2004, 'Lady Godiva' reverses the coloration pattern of its parent: where 'Striptease' has a white center with green margins, 'Lady Godiva' displays medium green leaves with creamy yellow margins that fade to white by midsummer. The leaf blades reach 7 inches (17.8 cm) in length and 5 inches (12.7 cm) in width, with margins approximately 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide.
In the Garden
This medium-sized hosta forms a clump suitable for partial to full shade, typical of the genus. At maturity, the plant reaches moderate dimensions consistent with its size class, making it appropriate for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials, and its reverse variegation provides a subtle contrast to solid-green or gold-foliaged companions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Lady Godiva' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
