Overview

Registered in 2002, 'Lac Leman' is a large blue-green hosta cultivar derived from *Hosta* 'Mountain Snow' as the pod parent, with an unknown pollen parent. Its most distinctive features are the heavily rippled leaf margins and glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces, which together evoke the gentle wave patterns of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), for which it is named.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) in height and 27.5 inches (69.9 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its large, ovate leaves with cordate bases and lightly wavy margins make it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. The blue-green foliage pairs well with golden or chartreuse hostas and ferns, though its substantial size requires adequate spacing from smaller companions.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most blue-leaved hostas, 'Lac Leman' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
