Overview

Registered in 2008, 'L.E.W.' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Olive Bailey Langdon' distinguished by its large, green leaves with chartreuse yellow, slightly rippled margins. The broadly ovate, deeply corrugated foliage is dull on both surfaces, lightly cupped, and borne on grey-green scapes.

In the Garden

This slow-growing cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 46 inches (116.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its substantial leaf substance and slug-resistant foliage allow it to persist well in typical hosta-growing zones, where it provides a bright accent among darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The grey-green scapes, which rise 16 to 28 inches (40.6 to 71.1 cm) above the foliage, support flowers that contribute modest vertical interest.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. The cultivar's noted slug resistance reduces the need for pest management, though standard deer deterrents may be required in areas with heavy browsing pressure.
