Overview
Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Krista' is a small-sized sport of a splashed seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict'. This cultivar is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with a narrow, yellow margin, forming a compact, mound-like habit.
In the Garden
With a mature height of 6 inches (15.2 cm) and a spread of 13 inches (33.0 cm), 'Krista' is well-suited for the front of a shaded border, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage and gold margins remain most vibrant. This small hosta also adapts well to container culture. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Krista' may be damaged by slugs and deer in typical hosta-growing zones.
