Overview
Registered in 2002 by Paul Ruh, 'Ko Mame' is a miniature hosta of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its very small, lance-shaped leaves with light green, slightly rippled margins and a flat, mound-like growth habit.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact, rounded clump reaching approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border, and performs best in partial to full shade. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent candidate for container culture. Companions may include other miniature hostas or small shade perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
