Overview
Registered in 2016, 'King Tucker' is a giant hosta cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Blue Umbrellas' and *H. montana* 'Aureomarginata'. It is visually distinctive for its tall, upright habit, large blue-green leaves with a slightly shiny upper surface and glaucous bloom beneath, and dark green, flat leaf margins.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches a mature size of 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, with scapes extending 36 to 38 inches (91.4 to 96.5 cm) high. Its upright growth and fast rate make it suitable as a specimen or back-of-border plant in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its bold foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formulation; slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
