Overview
Registered in 2016, *Hosta* 'Kim' is a giant-sized cultivar with *Hosta* 'Komodo Dragon' as its pod parent and an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, medium blue-green leaves with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, flat margins, and moderate corrugation, combined with a lightly cupped form and upright growth habit.
In the Garden
'Hosta' reaches a mature size of 31 inches (78.7 cm) in height and 50 inches (127.0 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its substantial blue-green foliage provides a strong textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its upright scapes, reaching 36 to 40 inches (91.4 to 101.6 cm), bear green flowers and rise well above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer moderate resistance to slugs, but standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions.
