Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Kenny Love Blue' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its grayish blue-green leaf margins and blue-green scapes. The leaves are 9 inches (22.9 cm) long and 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide, with 16 to 18 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 24 inches (61.0 cm) high and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
