Overview

Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'September Sun', 'Hub City' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with thin glaucous bloom on both surfaces. The broadly ovate, moderately corrugated foliage measures up to 10.25 inches long and 7.5 inches wide, with medium green flat margins and 10 to 11 vein pairs.

In the Garden

'Hub City' forms a dense mound reaching 16 inches in height and 34 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the glaucous bloom on its leaves is most pronounced. This large hosta is well suited for woodland borders, shade gardens, or as a specimen plant; its substantial size makes it unsuitable for small containers.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Hub City' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
