Overview
Registered in 2009 by P. Scolnik, *Hosta* 'Hoosier Homecoming' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Aspen Gold' and is visually defined by its medium-sized, broadly ovate leaves with golden yellow centers and narrow white margins. The leaf surface is dull above and below, with moderate corrugation and a lightly cupped form. Though sometimes considered synonymous with *Hosta* 'Aspen Breeze', the originator maintains they are distinct.
In the Garden
'Hossier Homecoming' forms an upright to mound-like clump reaching 13 inches (33 cm) in height and 31 inches (78.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where the golden leaf centers hold their color without scorching. Its medium size suits it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens; companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and shade-tolerant groundcovers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
