Overview
Registered in 1998, 'Hoosier Dome' is a giant variegated hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its enormous, heavily rippled leaves with medium green margins and a dull surface texture on both sides.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a large, mound-like clump reaching 42 inches (107 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61 cm) tall, with a moderate growth rate. Its substantial leaves, measuring up to 28 inches (71 cm) long and 24 inches (61 cm) wide with cordate bases, make it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. The scapes rise 36 to 40 inches (91 to 102 cm) high, bearing flowers typical of the genus.
Care Notes
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade, typical for hosta-growing zones. Water regularly during dry periods; apply balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed.
