Overview

Registered in 2000, 'Honeycomb' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Honeysong' that produces a small, mound-forming clump. Its distinctive variegation consists of green leaf margins with irregular, streaked patterning, creating a honeycomb-like visual effect.

In the Garden

This small hosta reaches approximately 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains most stable, and pairs well with other small woodland perennials such as ferns, heucheras, and epimediums. Its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Honeycomb' is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
