Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Honey Hill Tokens' is a small, mound-forming cultivar derived from a cross of two unnamed seedlings. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, blue-green leaves with broad, creamy white margins that occasionally streak inward toward the center, combined with a dull upper surface and a very shiny underside.
In the Garden
'Honey Hill Tokens' reaches a mature height of 12 inches (30.5 cm) and a spread of 20 inches (50.8 cm), with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small, rounded form makes it well suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants that share similar light and moisture requirements, such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials, complement its compact habit.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage; appropriate management measures may be necessary.
