Section classII-3

Overview

Registered in 2003, this large hosta cultivar produces broad, blue-green leaves with pale yellow, slightly rippled margins. The leaf blades are broadly ovate with rounded bases, lightly corrugated, and measure 12 inches (30.5 cm) long by 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with 16 vein pairs. The upper surface is dull, while the underside carries a glaucous bloom.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 70 inches (177.8 cm) and height of 29 inches (73.7 cm), this upright-growing cultivar requires substantial space in the shade garden. It performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture, and its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in woodland borders. The blue-green foliage with gold margins provides strong contrast when paired with ferns, astilbes, or other fine-textured shade perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
