Overview

Registered in 2013 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Honey Brickle' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its broadly ovate, moderately cupped leaves with green centers and bright golden yellow flat margins. The leaf blades exhibit a slightly shiny upper surface, dull underside, and prominent waffling texture, with 12 to 13 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Honey Brickle' reaches a mature height of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a spread of 20 inches (50.8 cm), forming a dense, slow-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its bright margin coloration remains most vivid. The compact size and deep cupping make it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs well with small ferns or woodland groundcovers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While moderately resistant to deer, standard slug control measures are advisable to protect the textured foliage.
