Overview
Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Guacamole', 'Holy Mole' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with medium green, flat margins that are notably wider than those of its parent. The leaves exhibit a glaucous bloom on the underside and a slight shine on the upper surface, with a nearly round shape and cordate base.
In the Garden
'Holy Mole' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 42 inches (107 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61 cm) in height, with scapes rising 24 to 30 inches (61 to 76 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for mid-border positions or as a specimen plant in shaded beds. Its substantial size and fast growth rate make it effective for filling large spaces, though it is not recommended for containers due to its mature dimensions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate deterrents or barriers.
