Overview
Registered in 1991 by H. & D. Benedict, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from self-pollination of *Hosta* 'Holly's Honey'. It is visually distinctive for its cordate, dark green leaves with narrow, light yellow, undulating margins and a compact, mounded habit.
In the Garden
'Holly's Gold' reaches a mature size of approximately 15 inches (38 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, with scapes extending to 27 inches (68.6 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in mixed shade plantings. Its medium size and tidy form make it compatible with ferns, heucheras, and small shade perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly in shaded, moist sites.
