Overview
Registered in 2013 as an open-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Sagae', 'High Impact' forms a large, upright clump distinguished by its silvery blue-gray leaves with slightly rippled, light green margins. The foliage carries a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and the scapes produce notable, bird-like flower buds.
In the Garden
'High Impact' reaches a mature size of approximately 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its substantial blue-green leaves provide strong textural contrast when paired with fine-textured ferns or golden-leaved companions such as *Hakonechloa macra* 'Aureola'. The upright habit and large, ovate leaves with cordate bases make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through cultural or physical barriers.
