Overview
Registered in 2002 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Antioch', 'High Five' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with unstable streaks of pale yellow and creamy white, set against creamy white, slightly rippled margins. The leaf margins measure 0.5 to 1.3 cm wide, and the variegation pattern is irregular, with streaks appearing unpredictably across the leaf surface.
In the Garden
'High Five' forms a mound-shaped clump 10 inches (25.4 cm) tall and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It is suited to partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and performs well in woodland gardens, shade borders, or as a groundcover in small groupings. Its small size and compact habit make it suitable for container culture or rock garden settings.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor for feeding and apply controls as needed.
