Overview
Registered in 2005 by an unknown breeder, 'High Diver' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its upright, arching habit and strong color contrast between dark green leaf centers and creamy white margins. The leaves are ovate with rounded bases, moderately wavy, and bear 8 vein pairs; the margins range from 0.3 to 1.3 cm wide and are slightly rippled.
In the Garden
'High Diver' reaches approximately 66 cm (26 in) in diameter and 38 cm (15 in) in height, with scapes rising 46 to 64 cm (18–25 in). Its upright form and arching leaves make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in partial shade. The green-and-white variegation pairs well with dark-leaved companions such as *Heuchera* or ferns. It is not suited for containers unless grown in a large pot, given its medium size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, particularly in damp conditions; deer are known to browse hostas and may target this cultivar.
