Overview

Registered in 1997 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Ginko Craig', 'Hi Ho Silver' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with pure white, slightly rippled margins. The foliage measures 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide, with six to seven vein pairs and a dull upper surface that contrasts with a slightly shiny underside.

In the Garden

This compact hosta forms a mound 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp without scorching. Its small stature makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, and it pairs well with other shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry spells. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Hi Ho Silver' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
