Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Herifu' is a small hosta of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with narrow white margins, often showing gray-green streaking, and its compact, fast-growing mound habit.
In the Garden
'Herifu' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 13 inches (33 cm) in height and 28 inches (71 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-green hostas, and is well-suited for small garden spaces, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other small hostas that contrast with its blue-green foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Herifu' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor for pests and use barriers or repellents as needed.
