Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Hello There' is a small, fast-growing variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its very shiny, broadly ovate leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a smooth, pointed tip.

In the Garden

This compact hosta forms a dense, mound-like clump 17 inches (43.2 cm) tall and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with scapes reaching 30 to 34 inches (76.2 to 86.4 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its small size makes it suitable for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and deer may feed on the foliage, the plant's fast growth rate aids recovery from minor damage.
