Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Heaven on Earth' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its ovate, moderately corrugated leaves with green centers and lime greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins. The foliage is slightly shiny above and very shiny beneath, with 9 to 10 pairs of veins, and the leaves are lightly twisted and wavy.
In the Garden
This spreading, mound-forming hosta reaches approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for the genus, and its late-blooming flowers on yellow scapes 25 to 30 inches (63.5 to 76.2 cm) tall provide seasonal interest. The lime-edged foliage pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
