Overview
Registered in 1997 by P. Ruh, this small-sized cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta longipes*. 'Harvest Dandy' is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with heavy, rippled margins, a slightly shiny surface on both sides, and a tapered leaf base.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter and 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. Suitable for shaded borders or woodland gardens, this small hosta pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact size makes it appropriate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Harvest Dandy' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor accordingly.
