Overview
Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Hallelujah' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Halcyon' and *Hosta* 'Blue Betty Lou'. It is distinguished by its intensely blue-green, ovate leaves with flat margins, a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and a moderate degree of cupping, waviness, and light corrugation.
In the Garden
'Hallelujah' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 33 inches (83.8 cm) in diameter. It is best suited to partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous foliage color is most pronounced. The semi-upright mound habit and wavy leaf margins make it a suitable specimen for border fronts or shaded rock gardens; companion plants might include ferns or shade-tolerant groundcovers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry spells, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and apply controls as needed.
