Overview
Registered in 1988 by E. Smith and the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society (BHHS), 'Hadspen Pink' is a small hosta derived from the *H.* Tardiana Group. Its primary distinction is the combination of blue-green leaves with blue margins, a color contrast unusual in a plant of this size class.
In the Garden
At maturity, 'Hadspen Pink' forms a compact clump 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33.0 cm) tall, making it suitable for the front of a border or rock garden. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue tones are most pronounced. Companion plants include small ferns, *Heuchera*, and other miniature hostas; it is also well suited to container cultivation due to its restrained size.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in containers. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
